Hi,
I have the above engine, it was running perfect. I created a lash-up with 2 other MTH engines with the above engine leading. All ran fine for days. At one point the train stalled at a switch, I thought I had a derailment, hit the stop everything button. Fixed the problem, lash-up could not be found. Deleted the lash-up & engines re-entered 2 of the 3 engines, DCS could not find the GP-35. I did a recover engine, found it, ran it, unable to get the marker lights & strobe to function. Did a factory reset, all OK. Tried to re-create the lash-up, unable to locate the GP35.
I set up a dedicated track with just a transformer, the engine ran fine conventionally. Added a TIU into the set up. All I get are the usual messages, no engine to add, out of RF range, etc. Tried a recover engine, no go. Removed the TIU & re-set the engine to factory settings, 1 horn, 5 bells. Horn blasted twice confirming a reset. Still unable to enter into the remote after reconnecting the TIU. I even switched the DCS/polarity switch a couple times.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joe

What version of the DCS software are you using? I know that past versions (e.g. 4.02, the version I use) have problems creating lashups.
My main layout TIU is Ver 3.1 and have been using a remote Ver 4.2 for years with minimal problems.

Update to 6.1 and report back.
I guess I'll need to have someone update my system.
In attempting to recover the engine, this image showed up in the remote. I get this once in awhile & it happened when I tried to add the engine one of the times but I wasn't able to delete it, it just went away. I usually delete it and retry. Is this a clue?

That remote message (softkeys saying MTC, MTC, MTC) looks like bad signal strength at the rails. The speed thing was popping up in an old DCS version I believe?
How's the battery condition in this engine. They usually start doing these things as the battery dies.
You know, I charged the battery overnight but never was able to recover it. I think I'll try a new battery, it can't hurt. Thanks for the suggestion.
Installed a BCR, didn't help. Oh well.
Joe Ironman,
FYI Version 3.1 didn't have recover engine. It started in 4.0
That is a pretty old version, I'd consider getting up to the current version. I don't know it's going to solve this problem, but you might prevent other issues down the road.
Up until now the few anomalies that would occur never stopped me from running. Probably time to upgrade.
Thanks
New update. I was able to update my TIU to version 6.1 & to my surprise, I was able to recover the GN GP35, HURRAY! I have one problem with this update, I am not able to update my remote. Refer to the following link below:
