My previously reliable MTH Railking NYC Hudson model no. 30-1461-1 with Proto-Sound 2.0 just became unreliable.  It had been sitting for a month.  I started it up without a problem.

All of a sudden, mid trip around the layout it stopped.  The Hudson was still complying with the handheld supplying engine noise and horn and bell but the engine was not moving.

As it was near some switches, I assumed that it had hit a dead spot.  I have already replaced the battery with a battery eliminator.  I moved it by hand thinking the tether may have been loose. and started it again.  It ran and than stopped again.  I attempted to delete and reinstall the engine on the remote.  When I next went over to touch it, both the engine and the tender were warm to hot.  I removed it from the track.  I have not opened it up.  There does not appear to be anything in the gears or pickups.  I have attached photos.  Are the board's blown? Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks for the thoughts. I will take the shell off tonight to see if I can tell if there is any obvious issues.  It is a 2007 locomotive.  The sounds still work so I am hopeful it is not the boards. The site and the manual do not have a parts breakdown but it must be a pretty standard motor for a Railking hudson.  Does anyone have any ideas about an easy test with a multi meter or the proper parts number for a replacement?
