Hey Folks! Once again I'm seeking your help/suggestions to get an engine to operate properly. I have two MTH P S 2 engines that are acting alike. They will run, forward/reverse, just fine. However, I cannot get the Proto Sound volume to operate. When the engines are on in idle, you can hear the cab chatter very, very faintly. When I try to increase the volume by turning the engine over and manually turning the volume button up, nothing happens or changes. Same results when I try to control the volume by way of the transformer controls. The trans is a Z-4000.
These engines have worked fine in the past. Both have BCRs, and have had, for at least four or five years. Yesterday, both were allowed to sit on the track with the trans at 10 to 15 volts for 30 minutes, charging. Neither has been run in over a year, probably. However, in the past, even with sporadic operation, they worked perfectly.
