Hey guys, I got 3 sets that I will convert to 2 rail soon. For the non powered cars the inter mountain wheels sets fit perfectly. For the powered cars the NWSL conversion sets look like they will work fine But I have to run some tests before I install the trucks. Losing the lobster claws was such a relief! I think these are decent for the price, and I'm working to get them to look the part next to the premier models. im not close to being done, I plan to install kadees, interior details and figures. what do you all think?

Excellent!! looks great, a two rail commuter, you don't see that to often, great work,I like it!! Stephen cTr (Choose the Right)
where did you get the interior lights and the red lights to this set?
I plan to install kadees...
Would those be correct couplers?
Masta244 I just replaces the original with 3mm red LEDs. I also replaced the original lenses with 3mm red LEDs cut to half To give a more correct appearance.
mwb, good point. Kadees wouldn't be prototypical, I believe the correct ones would be Tomlinsons. Here are a few pics of the progress, most of it is detailing. Notice that I modified the trucks so they would be closer to the chassis, which actually makes the cars longer. I plan to put together a video of the conversion once I'm done, but it's been a ton of work and (I'm very lazy) there are 5 cars to go.

I believe that you can get operating Tomlinson couplers from Q-Car. Might be a tad pricey, but that would be a viable option.

ok. but how about the interior lights?
My bad. I used strips of 12v LEDs with one 680 ohm resistors for a desired brightness. I don't use capacitors though. I also used a rather thick tracing paper for a more homogenous light flood.

Santiago you always make cool stuff ,I remember your LIRR M7 ..I did my M7 lights in the back too from your old video. Now I'm going to do my r142. Keep up the good work..
P.S. I would love to see that r142 in action like a video on youtube.
Hi Santiago, where did you get the couplers from??
looks awesome!
good morning santiago;
as a former nyc subway Motorman.. i can tell you that those couplers arent the correct ones either. they lack the electric portion for connections and the coupler itself isnt right ..but its a lot closer than that monstrosity that mth put on there. i like how you did the lighting,.,.but i have to ask; how did you pull the mth wheelsets off the block truck? the cars look great esp light up in the dark..
thanks for the pics.

Mwb, your're right they do carry them but holy crap they are expensive! Here is the link for anyone interested http://www.qcarcompany.com/lis...ts_Exterior.html#HXC
dex718 you are too kind buddy, thanks. The video is being held back a little but, I got a dcc system recently and I've been busy learning about it for the past month. I'm also waiting for mth to give me a wiring diagram so I can run the set under dcc since it doesnt come with the dcs dcc switch. The coupler I kitbashed.
Trainman1964 thanks for the input, I know what you mean. This is a work in progress, but too much work for little progress if you ask me. I don't get railking items so I knew what I was getting into. I don't think it will happenanytime soon but it would make me very happy to see premier 2 rail subways.

The R142A looks great with those new LED lights. I might be doing the same using Jack Pearce LED commuter lights. Hit me up on my email in my profile, I will send some pics when I begin the conversion.
Sure thing borderman01! I've Never used them but I hear great things.
As mentioned the set does not come with a dcs/dcc switch, but after asking mth about setting up the r142a subway to run under dcc they provided me with these instructions. I followed them and it works. The only thing I would add is to make sure to differentiate between that grey cable and the one of the proto couplers as they are the same type of cable. Also, you may wanna install a small switch as it is a better solution to the wire nut. not that anyone asked but I'm gonna leave it here for future reference..
