MTH Railking RS3 DOA Next steps?

My very first Engine purchase was a MTH RailKing RS3 (PS2).  Love it but it recently stopped running.  Replaced the battery but no go.  So what do I do?  Nothing and keep it on a shelf? Upgrade the board? (But kits aren't in stock) Find a RS3 with a working PS2 and switch it out?  Find a RS3 with a PS3 board and switch it out?  IDK.  I like to see it run again.
