I bought a 30-20446-1 NKP SD-9 new from an MTH dealer and there was no manual in the box. Also no manual is available on the MTH web site. Does anyone know why?

You could download the manual for 30-20197-1 which is also a SD-9 with PS3. Recent PS3 engines only come with a very basic pamphlet that doesn’t cover specifics of PS3 engines. The manual for that engine is the detailed version of the manual.
As a point of continuing education...
There are no dashes in EMD model numbers. This is an SD9, not an SD-9.
The only place where EMD used dashes was in the “Dash 2” line, as in SD40-2.
