I assume MTH is only going to do special runs using molds they already have. Is there a list of the molds we know they have? I think they have these. Any others?

jim sutter: Yes, indeed, I would likely go for at least the New Haven hoppers. Nah--probably all four! And the Weaver versions of the IH and Grain Train sold well---so well that I hunted and grabbed them for about five years, until I gave up on the high prices. These, and MTH PS2, hooked me on O Gauge trains and eventually led to a the 900 sq. ft. Golden Prairie Railroad with its five grain elevators and one more to fit somewhere someday.

Lionel's are substitutes during transition period. Putting a board across the door is cheating. Need to step it up to the real deal.

MTH dealers are limiting their sales by just selling roads in their region. Many areas in the country, don't have any dealer representation so the roads don't get produced.
I've been a buyer primarily of MTH Trains since 1997. I limit myself to New England railroads (New Haven, Boston & Maine, Boston & Albany) and New York Central, with some Providence & Worcester, Maine Central and Rutland on occasion. Under the current business model, these roads are not being represented and I'm not buying anything. I already have a model of Boston & Maine #3713, so I did not buy the recent MTH version. I also have New York Central, Boston & Albany and Rutland cabooses on pre-order for what seems like a long time. The current business model is not working for me, especially for locomotives. I would like to see an Alco RS-1 diesel or a USRA 0-8-0 steamer for NH, B&M, B&A and NYC...

i would like to see some passenger cars in the railking 60' plastic,but no sanfe,nyc,pennys,altho a set of nyc in jade green would be outstanding , red and gray Pacemaker colors ! i say go for all the fantasy ones you can dream up,i'm ready !

In the absence of a .pdf or hard copy catalog of some sort, it would be useful to hobbyists, and perhaps dealers, if there was a link on the home page to a listing of all currently available MTH and dealer custom runs, with links to the dealers in the case of custom runs. The frequent email notifications are all well and good, but a centralized on-line listing (sort of a catalog) would be a useful guide to current planned production and facilitate ordering. Perhaps the current volume of sales doesn't justify the time and effort to do this, but I think it would both be useful to many hobbyists and dealers, and perhaps drive sales.

Wrong logo, though. That NYC logo didn't begin to be used until 1959. That was a number of years after there were no longer any steam engines on the NYC.

You can use the following links to view the list(s) of special runs on the MTH website. The links are provided by MTH in their email newsletters...
I don't know if these links are on the home page (that would be a good idea!), but they seem to be very comprehensive. Once you click on an item of interest, select "Find it Locally" to bring up the contact information for the dealer doing the custom run.
I would like to see a Rath Packing Company 40' steel-sided reefer (the one with two small doors, not the more modern single large door one) with the large red, white and blue Rath "headdress" logo.
I can't post a photo here, but would gladly share off-line with any dealer interested in doing a special run.

H1000 has provided easy steps here. One can take another approach and add a dealer's name in the "Add a Description" blank and then you can find the specific special run items by the dealer. MTH has added dealer names to the special run item descriptions. You may have run it a couple of times to find how MTH has spelled the dealer name so the search picks it up. Here's a sample using Mr. Muffin.
When the dealer's items come up, you can easily filter by clicking on one or more of the left side categories as H1000 clearly described. Go to the dealer's website to check the status/availability of the item.
Since I'm seeing hints of a RS-3 run, please consider a Reading RS-3 in Pullman Green. I know a lot were made but they can't be found anywhere (except the old Weaver ones with horizontal drive). It would be really enticing if the steam generator exhaust could be added for passenger service units on the short hood.
A Mikado for C&NW and EJ&E. As far as I know, Lionel's new CNW Berk was the first freight steamer for CNW ever made, and no one's made one for EJ&E that I've seen.

GP40-2 (W) in Pan AM and Guilford livery. No one has ever produced this engine in O Scale. Atlas has made it in HO & N but not O. Canadian National also had some of these so it would likely sell well in Canadian markets if they needed additional road names to be able to justify the new tooling cost.....
My wish hmmmm, would be a new MTH DCS command system 2. Stand by April 2023 hopefully.

One New England road that is underrepresented is the Bangor and Aroostook. Their F3s and E7s wore one of the best looking as-delivered liveries, IMO. Neither have been done in 3 rail O to my knowledge. At least MTH did release a GP38 and an F3 set in the later “circus” scheme. I have the GP38, which was released in the early 90s. I had it upgraded to PS2.

hey, as long as we're dreaming.. there's a few 2816 tinplate hoppers that got cataloged but never made. I think they would sell well.

his catalog also promised factory made transition cars with tinplate couplers on one end and lobster claw on the other. Those cars never happened either. I don't know how well they would sell in general but I was lining up to buy them!

All the better models went to Atlas O with the 40's.
So I would be fine with Atlas doing it…. If they have done it in HO & N, it should make it a little easier to figure out the dimensions for the body & the chassis……
These pilot wheels look WAY to small for these nice steamers - Would expect this from Lionel, but not MTH...
