WOW! This thing is a beast!
And to my pleasant surprise they have improved it by adding more details!
Most notably are the new separately applied details in the trucks such as the brake cylinders. The original ones were molded into the trucks.
The pilot has separately applied details that were once molded in.
They added a window in the back side which was once just a plastic indent.
The are probably more you can find for youself from the photos.
Overall the details look crisp and very well done. It has a very real look about it. Its a great model!
It is Protosound 3.0
It started right up and has some great engine and turine sounds.
Runs smooth at 2mph!
The only negatives are the gap between the truck and that the smoke does not come out the turbine vent. ? Instead it comes out the hole you put the smoke fluid in. Its ok for the back smoke unit (there are two) because that comes from the standard diesel engine. I'm going to have to do something about that. I also noticed a slight wobble.
As far as my plan to lower it, it can be done pretty easily, but the problem is the bolster will hit the tanks on under body on O-72 curves. I think I can get away with about 1/8" with no problem.
I will definitely add a Kadee in front and fill the hole. I will not have to add details like the hose because they are already there!
And I will lightly weather it and add some weight. With the four motors, it should have some great pulling power.
This engine has exceeded my expectations and I'm very excited.
