Set up a new 4 x 8 for the grandson to play with, but the old Marx Controllers are cumbersome and take up too much space. This layout has 7 switches and he is five so not too tall to see everything easily.
So I thought I would cook up a hand held switch controller that was lightweight and portable enough to walk around the layout.
I had a lot of old VHS library cases so I thought that would make a good lightweight controller. And despite the difficulty in cutting out square holes I thought rocker switches would be better than toggle switches. By clearly numbering the switches themselves and the corresponding switches on the controller I figured he could work it fairly well. Although a little apprehensive, so far so good.
Here is what it looks like. We just got finished playing with it for four hours ("Pop Pop" got tired not him).
