Hello Folks, I am now working on my new layout and I may be in the wrong forum.  I planned on using Ross switches and Gargraves track.  Now I have the opportunity to purchase some used Gargraves switches (about 15) from a hobbist I know and trust at a very reasonable price. But here is my question? What am I going to lose by mixing the two switches?  Appearence, reliability, quality, or whatever?

Please give me the benefit of your opinion.

Tks

Having fiddled with both, I find the ross track to be more durable than gargraves. If you have straight sections, or curves of known radius, you're better off with the ross if you're willing to spend the money on it. The material the rail is made from is thicker and its also harder (since its not intended to be flexible), which also makes it more resistant to dents from accidental bangs and drops. If you need flex track... gargraves interchanges with it, BUT, be aware that gargraves track is shorter than Ross (and the Ross switches). The rail is the same but the GG ties are not as tall, you need to shim it up so that all your track is level.
