plug in your phone 4 conductor cord to tiu and remote check dcs is set to fixed all channels are turned on. also check to see if remote is set to same number of blinks of tiu red led blink on tiu power up!

menu/system/dcs setup/aon on remote this will turn on dcs for remote to control trains from your remote, then try  read command on remote and ity should find tiu and possibly engine that is on the track!

good luck and keep us informed as to your progress with you problem. if still don't work try tiu reset!

use your remote and do a tiu reset and will restore it to factory specs ok plug you 4 conductor cord into tiu where Barry told you and ito remote then use remote menu/system/tiu setup/reset tiu. from remote it really is not that difficult !try what I'm telling you and then let us know how you made out ok!

ps you need to buy dcs companion would save you a lot of questions and well worth the investment!

I put the switch on DCC and now it lights up and engine noise but still can't add engine???

that's normal   ... If you have 3 rail track set the switch to DCS.... When power is applied to fixed 1 we want the engine to remain dark & silent meaning it's seeing the dcs watch signal.  However why it won't add is another  mystery.    Do you have another Proto-2  engine you could try adding . See what happens with it...

Here's something else to try.  Put loco on a track with no other locos on powered track.  See if you can add it as a new MTH loco.  Don't bother deleting it first.  See if it adds at a new ID.

I frequently experience a situation where, if power is cut shortly after a loco is powered up and started up, the ID gets scrambled.  Happens when a block is turned on, startup is hit, and loco starts to move, but then a breaker pops because some operator has left a car derailed, all happening in under 10-15 seconds.  I expect it's due to supercap not charged up (most all my PS2s use supercaps) or a dead/weak battery.
