Kow about telling us what you have and whats going on like what have you done and what is the red light to.
Where might this red light be located. Hopefully, not on your front door.....LOL
fixed but can't locate engine???
plug in your phone 4 conductor cord to tiu and remote check dcs is set to fixed all channels are turned on. also check to see if remote is set to same number of blinks of tiu red led blink on tiu power up!
menu/system/dcs setup/aon on remote this will turn on dcs for remote to control trains from your remote, then try read command on remote and ity should find tiu and possibly engine that is on the track!
good luck and keep us informed as to your progress with you problem. if still don't work try tiu reset!
Alan
It was the red light on the TIU I had to replace the fuse.
thanks guys
Ross
where is phone 4 conductor?thanks
Ross
Ross,
where is phone 4 conductor?
On the TIU, it's labeled "REMOTE INPUT" and is located to the right of the serial port.
On the remote, it's the (only) jack on the bottom.
I know I ofund where to put phone line but still TIU is set at 3 on TIU???
use your remote and do a tiu reset and will restore it to factory specs ok plug you 4 conductor cord into tiu where Barry told you and ito remote then use remote menu/system/tiu setup/reset tiu. from remote it really is not that difficult !try what I'm telling you and then let us know how you made out ok!
ps you need to buy dcs companion would save you a lot of questions and well worth the investment!
Alan
You have to be able to find a TIu before you can reset it. Ross's TIu blinks 3 time so it's tiu #3. The question is...Has TIU #3 been added to the remote and does the "read" find it ? (tethered or not tethered)
I have both on TIU 3 now but still can't add engine it says engine add error. It also seems like my remote locks up for some reason????
not good huh,
Ross
Ross try this ," you have nothing to lose...... Reset the remote..... Add Tiu # 3. Delete tiu #1....
Hit the" read"
Question does the read find the tiu? If yes try adding a engine again.
Sometimes recycling TIU power will Eliminate the TIU error message.
when I hit read it says TIU #3 but it says it can't find engine. When I try to add track it goes to variable 1 or 2???? it should be fixed right?I can hear the engine running when I turn transformer on?
OK We now know the "read" finds tiu #3 so the remote and tiu are communication with each other. That's good..... Hook up a small test track to Fixed 1 (forget about adding a track) Try adding a engine now.
how do i add track just one piece without engine on it to the fixed output?
Yep! One or two sections . Power to fixed 1 IN..... Fixed 1 out to the test track with one engine on it..good luck.
no luck i noticed the tender wasn't on DCU switch so i did that ok. I am working with 3 rails if it matters I do have the roller underneath ?????
Fwd: train
I think you're beat.... one last question though.... did the engine remain dark & silent or start up with sound & lights on the test track?
it did not light up or make sounds it did make sounds when I had it on the full track???
I don't know what to think... If you could get the engine added on the test track and do a track signal test we might get to the bottom of the problem..... Unfortunately we can't get that far.
i hope i did it right I took one long track and put the train on it and hooked it up to thee fixed #1 output. I had the engine repaired in Feb by MTH
thanks Gregg.

That switch on top the tender should be on DCS right?
I put the switch on DCC and now it lights up and engine noise but still can't add engine???
Ross Gerami posted:I put the switch on DCC and now it lights up and engine noise but still can't add engine???
that's normal ... If you have 3 rail track set the switch to DCS.... When power is applied to fixed 1 we want the engine to remain dark & silent meaning it's seeing the dcs watch signal. However why it won't add is another mystery. Do you have another Proto-2 engine you could try adding . See what happens with it...
Did you try the "Recover Lost Engine" function? Perhaps it's configuration is scrambled and the DCS can't find it.
Here's something else to try. Put loco on a track with no other locos on powered track. See if you can add it as a new MTH loco. Don't bother deleting it first. See if it adds at a new ID.
I frequently experience a situation where, if power is cut shortly after a loco is powered up and started up, the ID gets scrambled. Happens when a block is turned on, startup is hit, and loco starts to move, but then a breaker pops because some operator has left a car derailed, all happening in under 10-15 seconds. I expect it's due to supercap not charged up (most all my PS2s use supercaps) or a dead/weak battery.
I tried that no luck???
HOW CAN I TEST MY TIU????? TRAIN RUNS WITH DIRECT POWER TO IT BUT NOT THRU TIU????
