My layot is set in the 1950's. But as my grandkids get older, and they all love trains, I have been adding equipment they might recognize over my 'old time' stuff.

This started as a 2 unit set of WbB Dash-9 CONRAIL locos I got off that auction place. They were cheap as they had 3 broken pilots out of four.  I had thought about repainting them into Unstoppable locos....but never did and it's just as well. CSX runs just yards from my daughters so I figured CSX units would be recognized!

I made the decals as I could not find the exact decals needed. Then since I was making my own I made a 'fantasy' scheme of Chessie CSX paint.

While I had the locos apart I decided to 'fix' the fuel tanks. Not 100% correct for sure but making it 3/4 wider made a major improvement in the looks.  I altered the end railings too and will add chain when I'm done. Pretty happy overall with the results and since it's a fantasy scheme....it not wrong! Next unit will be in the 'Dark Future' scheme!

I still have a few small decals to apply, a clear flat top coat and some light weathering...but I'll do that after I finish the other unit.

Thanks for looking!

Good show,,Rod

Thanks Rod........but this was all done with spray cans. I use Dupli-color paints from the auto parts store or big box store. I also use Tamiya model paints from the hobby shop. Both are pretty fool proof with just a little practice. I mask with Tamiya masking tape which is great too. Microscale makes decal close to these...I just wanted a Chessie C on mine. Try repainting a cheap box car or even a Plasticville building. Thanks

I used to use tamiya tape and really burnish the ends...try frog tape...regular or low tack! The adhesive coagulates when something liquid hits it and seals the edge.

BTW- nice new paint scheme ya did...I'd go a fallen flag if I had an engine like that one....a nice chinese red and grey.
