whoever built this layout was talented. I read that he moved the Corgi vehicles with magnets under the table making them look motorized. Also like the erector set bridge…..https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RQTgwwXIpj0&t=168s&pp=ygUdMTk1MCdzIDAgZ2F1Z2UgbW9kZWwgcmFpbHJvYWQ%3D

Thank you James, I was wondering if it would come out.. appreciate it.
Ah yes, that video.
Reminds me of the old George Pal "Puppetoons" films...

Wow! If the locos (Lionel 675, 225E, etc.) were actually moving under their own power, someone must have done a LOT of work to make them run on 2-rail track with no outside 3rd rail. I have to watch again to see if perhaps they were being moved by hand, by pushing on the rear of the train, etc. In any event, a great video, truly amazing for its time. It sort of reminds me of the "claymation" Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Christmas special produced by Rankin-Bass in the 1960s.
I assumed the camera was stopped and the vehicles moved slightly by hand to create the illusion of motion

I don't think so.
https://ogrforum.com/...2#182184739114601072…….yes seems with the crossover tracks and automatic stopping that electronics was his thing so maybe he could apply it to making the locos run on 2 rail. I like the Rudolph comparison lol …looks like it.
https://ogrforum.com/...2#182184739117689612…..well he claims to have moved magnets under the table for the vehicles.but you could be right.

Great video. They put a lot of effort and TLC in that layout and the video. It's refreshing to see something other than run-bys.

I agree. I suspect the track was hand laid. Definitely the switches look hand laid. I think the trains were running but some of the other motion did remind me of Rudolf clay Mation type of motion. Someone really made a very well done layout.
A very well made video.
I almost expected to see a miniature person step out of the car when it stopped at the station.
I think that this video (8mm, super 8, etc.) was a combination of stop-action, claymation, magnets, etc.
Growing up in late 60's and 70's I recall videos like this every now and again on TV. They had a craft about them. Gumby was kind of in this genre.

I will bet it’s either magnets or good old stop motion photography.
https://ogrforum.com/...2#182184739121993982……yes that was my first thought about the track being hand laid. Yes a lot of thought went in. I’ve never seen a layout like this or a video the way this was put thought. The guy was innovative and talented. Sure wish there was more on who he was. Maybe one of the old magazines.
Also, All that’s known is it’s a Charlie Dean Archives video .
The build must have taken quite a while, a labor of love seems.
Glad you all like it.
I skimmed through it but I'm going to come back to watch. This is really impressive! Thanks for sharing.
