The narrow gauge magazine floated in, and there were some fantastic models
in the September convention contest. The one I drooled over was G gauge, sadly, not O, although as two rail there, that would not have helped. It is one I have wanted to build in O three rail, a Baldwin (( I think the contest model was, although I am not sure the Baldwin is a vertical (T) boiler)) steam coach. I have not been able to find steam drivers, 3 rail, or even 2, that are small enough so the project has gone nowhere, although Walther's kits for the body are on hand. My first run at it with HO drivers, frame, and power from an HO 0-4-0 did not work out, as I was not successful at widening the flanges. The detail on the contest model was fantastic, to the point of my wondering if any steam coaches survive anywhere? And I think not, unless overseas. Where would good plans for that have come from? Like the cancelled McKeen car, I guess there is not enough interest in these critters to hope for a produced one..The other steam coach I want is the Unit-Stanley. There were, of course,
Alco, and several others....
