Looking for help debugging my Lionel UP Genset 6-28314. The engine responds to legacy control, ie movement, direction, couplers, lights. However, I get no sound from the unit. Well I would say I get a periodic tick/crackle from the speaker. When I hit the horn the frequency increases but no actual sounds. I have done the reset, the reprogram, and the factory reset to no avail, and rotated the volume pot. Still no sounds. I have reseated the RS6 board and the RS power board, no luck. i even tried the sound board and RS power board in an early legacy berkshire and both work. My berk sound like a genset, so the board seem fine. I checked all connections and they seem fine. One thing I notice is when I hit the horn button I do get some flicker of the cab lights at the same time.
I would greatly appreciate any info that may help me to figure this issue out. An no, the sounds never worked. This is brand new in the box from the factory.
