I am heping a friend try to add DCS to his existing layout which has three main lines.  I cannot find in the DCS manual or seem to figure out how to make the variable channels fixed.

I will be there tomorrow and would like to be able to accomplish this.

Is it in the DCS manual and I have over looked it?

I would appreciate help with this.

Thanks,

Don

Once a Variable channel is set to Fixed it should remain there until Changed back.  Procedure has to be done for both Variable 1 and Variable 2.

On the handheld remote.

System,  DCS Setup, TIU1, Variable 1,  soft key S5 FXD.

System,  DCS Setup, TIU1, Variable 2,  soft key S5 FXD.

Should give you (4) Fixed voltage outputs from the TIU.

A small correction.  When you set the variable channels to fixed, they will revert to variable if you select them with the TR key and vary the voltage.  On the next power cycle for the TIU, it will revert back to fixed mode.

This feature actually turns out to be useful.  You can run them fixed most of the time, but if you want to run a conventional locomotive, you just select the track and adjust the voltage, and you have variable voltage without actually having to configure the channel in the setup.  Cycle power to the TIU and you're back in fixed mode.

Don,

Here's a shameless plug for The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition!

It will go a long ways towards maximizing yours and your friend's DCS experience for a less than the cost of a Rail King freight car.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
