Need to know what each of the contacts on a Lionel rtr Lionchief 0-8-0 starter set steam loco does. Why I'm asking is I want  to double head two LC locos from the same sets (not LC+) but be able to have the remote control activate only the announcements from one of the two locos when the remote's announcement button is pressed. One suggestion how I could eliminate sounds from one of the two locos is by adding an on/off switch between the sound board and speaker on one of the locos but doing that and switching it to off would eliminate all sounds from that loco but I just want to be able to eliminate the announcement and also possibly the whistle and bell sounds from the second double headed loco when I press those buttons on the remote.

All of the LC engines I have seem to have 4 pins.  I don't have the particular engine to confirm.  In any case, it was discussed in another thread a while back, that the pin-out for each engine can be different.  (2 pins for speaker, 2 pins for electro coupler on LC+) The easiest way to do what you want would be to open the tender and place the switch on one of the wires there.  As mentioned, all that is inside the tender is the speaker.

There is no way to selectively choose which sounds play and which do not.  As I said in your other thread, it is all or nothing.  ...

Now if you want to get real complex you could, but I don't think it's worth the time to create your own sound board for a starter set engine... unless you think that sounds like fun.
