It is an old Samsung SPH-P100 Galaxy Tab, with firmware 2.3.4 and build "Gingerbread.EF17."  If I press upgrade, it says I have the latest version.  It's fairly old.  I have a fairly new tablet and 2 smart phones (one disconnected from phone service) that run the MTH app.  This was given to me by a son who also has later stuff.  It would have been noce to use this 7" screen on the layout.

The app will be available on iTunes in a day or two. apple takes a bit longer to vet apps than does Google.

You need both DCS 5.0 and a WIU (WiFi Interface Unit) to use the app.

The WIU is expected to be available from MTH dealers next month. However, you can read all about it in The DCS Companion, available from MTH in the next day or two by clicking here.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Thanks for the info Barry, enjoy York.

FWIW, at York today, MTH allowed me to log into their display layout wi-fi, load their loco into my phone, and operate it with my Samsung Galaxy 6.  Worked flawlessly.  The most noticeable feature was that when I pressed the horn button on the screen, the horn sounded at once and cut off when I released.  No lag.  Also, when running the steamer, the horn your press becomes a whistle cord that you slide down on, which allows for the quillable feature.

FYI if you haven't downloaded the app, the main screen has an analog speedometer,  You can adjust speed by moving the pointer on the speedometer, by tapping on the speed you want to run, or using up & down arrows.

MTH advised the the container ship carrying the modules has left Asia and they should arrive in a month, becoming available in early December.

Oh yes.  We who had volunteered to upgrade, got the 5.0 software just before the DCS meeting/dinner, so we upgraded the remotes and TIUs of those present to version 5.0.  It will be a few days before it gets posted on the website.  The software team is all here.

Derek interviews  Andy Edelman on the MTH 2016 Catalog, Vol.1 show.

Andy talks about the APP, The paid APP will not be out until early 2016 and the engineers in Michigan are still working on the APP at the "MTH - Skunk Works".

I am not yet sold on the new WiFi APP, I want to see the paid version up and running on You Tube or at my Local Hobby Shop.

It does look very cool at the Google APP Store, see screen shot below.

Downloaded the app yesterday. Very polished look. Good job. Can't wait for the hardware to get here.

All:

The DCS App is already on Google Play an will be on iTunes as soon as Apple vetts it.

The print book is not available at York. The copies for MTH's preorders shipped to MTH yesterday and I expect that Mth will send them to purchasers next week. MTH's link for the DCS Companion 3rd Edition for both eBook and pront book, should be up earlynext week.

The DCS App works with all DCS engines, 2-rail and 3-rail.
