When I first asked about Lion Chief at my LHS the guy said "those are just toys" and pointed to the left over Christmas sets.

Strange, I thought they are all toys.

While well-intentioned, making too many sub-forums tends to backfire.  When it comes down to it, most people don't have time to click around through multiple sub-forums to read everything.  Especially since many people come to this site multiple times per day.  People just want to go to one forum and scroll. 

And because people want the most eyes on their topic, people will continue to post all topics to the main forum. 

Not a criticism, but just my experience from other forums.  The most successful forums are those with the least amount of sub-forums.

Great idea Rich.  Although I do not own any LC+ I do get to operate most of it at one time or another.  I repair it for C Ro.  I would enjoy input from others and I might be able to throw out a few things I have learned.  I would love to see a LC operating mode in the Cab 2. 

Hi all so is there anything coming out new that anyone know's about as far a Bluetooth form a cell phone, I've heard something about apple, does anybody think it will work OK or not!

Alan, Bachmann has a new BT control system for HO trains, and it's expected it'll find it's way to O-gauge at some point.

Rich, can I suggest we get a spiffy icon for the new forum.  The generic is so bland.

The LC+ stuff doesn't much float my boat.  And it's not even on my radar screen, given I'm already well-invested in Legacy and DCS. 

So thus far, the best suggestions for new sub-forums have been Ben's "Big Boy" along with "Ask Gunrunnerjohn".  Any attempt at an LC+ grouping of topics will be a DISTANT third compared to those other two!!!     

John, start thinking about the icon you'd like Rich to use for your new sub-forum!

I just purchased a LionChief Plus Pennsy Mikado a couple weeks ago from my local hardware/hobby shop, who is an OGR Magazine advertiser.  Great price, and a great guy.  So far I really like it!  Considering I have a small space and a small budget, I like the LC+.  I am happy you made this new forum.  In a while folks will get used to using it, although there will always be topics posted that would be better in another forum.

I agree with Towdog's point fully....... there are now too many sub forums.  Its unfortunate that his core opinion was ignored & curtly dismissed with a reply only to his secondary comment that said something about "forum success." 

I also have a small layout and find LC+ perfect for me. I think the new forum is a good idea. Thanks for creating it.

Volume of posts should not equate to success. Success is expanding points of view on the hobby were everyone gets heard and respected

I also would prefer less sub-forums.  However, maybe it will get discussions of something I'm not interested in off this page.

I like the idea. It will be a great place for the new guys to get up on the control systems in a more relaxed page. Besides the manufactures need a source for question and wont's that are on the minds of the customers for these products.

Thanks for creating it, Mr. Rich and the others that came up with the idea.  Know as time goes on, it will become more and more useful.  In fact I am going over to see what's in there now.

There is open-source Direct-Bluetooth-Train-Control but it is probably about a year or so away from being generally available.

I hope someone can answer a old man's question(s) about Lionel's Lion Chief System.

If a person has a medium size layout and four Lion Chief engines. Can the person operate all four engines at one time? Without using four different remotes? Just seems to be confusing to me.

Short answer Pappy is no.  There is a multi-remote in the works at Lionel development for LC+ locomotives, but I don't think it'll operate the plain LC set engines.  They talked about the multi-remote for LC+ at the spring York meet.

great idea. The best feature of Lion Chief + is the speed control. 

I like the fan driven smoke as well, though I probably would pick the speed control as the top of the list.  The LC+ stuff also has nicer detailing as a rule.  Of course, since just an LC+ locomotive costs more than the LC sets, that stands to reason that there should be something nicer about them!

i completely disagree with above.It is easy to post specific, plus the recent posts on right hand side of page allow for easy pick and choose what you want to read.This is a well layed out forum.
