New Legacy Boom Car

The lack of the crane will have no effect, it's a one-way conversation from the command base to the boom car.  The boom car or Legacy system has no knowledge that the crane isn't there.

I have 1.6 but it should work with 1.52. I did set mine to Legacy instead of Cab1 and have the symbols present. The horn quills. Try changing it to Legacy and see if that makes a difference.

A newer version of the Legacy software will display "crane" instead of CAB1 but you can still operate the boom car with the version you have. If you continue to use 1.52, changing the "sound" option to LEG (legacy) will give you the ability to quill the air horn.

I am using V1.6.  The boom car shows up as CAB-1 with RS5.  The horn works but is not quillable like other Legacy locomotives.  It will make some slightly different sounds when you pull the controller.

I think we have to wait for the Legacy crane to see what happens when they are together but, since the boom is RS5, not Legacy, it think the sounds are what they are.

Like Rudy says, change from CAB1 to LEGACY.  How could the crane affect the sounds Rudy, there's no communication between them, right?

Yes, V1.6 allows you to enter it as a Crane.  I changed the sounds to Legacy which seems to give slightly better control over the horn.  Control remains as CAB1 and is the only choice.

Thanks for the responses. When I get a chance I will upgrade to V1.6 and see what happens.

If they had made them to "hookup" as a lash up of sorts, it could have worked together. Like Teddy Rukspin (sp) of the eighties. That was three teddy bears that hooked together and sang different parts of a song. 

The fact still remains, regardless of how they're configured in the Legacy system, that Legacy is a one-way conversation.  The boom car and crane will only receive the commands from the Legacy system, and they operate independently.  One does not know the other is on the tracks or still in China on the assembly line.  If you can't get the sounds you expect from the boom car alone with the current 1.6 Legacy version, it's either broken or you're expecting something that isn't there.

If you change and hold the position of the horn slider on your cab2, and the horn sound varies when you move the slider but remains constant when the slider is still, you are quilling the air horn. It is a higher-pitch industrial air horn sound and so perhaps to your ear does not sound like a locomotive. But it does quill.

As John says, there will be no difference when the crane is attached, except that it will be one-thousand percent more fun!

Yes, the fun quotient goes up a bunch when you add the crane!

BTW Rudy, does the boom car work seamlessly with the TMCC crane?  I remember that was a target desire.  What is the difference between the old TMCC crane and the Legacy crane?

I currently do not own a crane but plan on buying the Legacy (Bethlehem Steel) (due out mid year 2016) to go with the Legacy boom car I just purchased.  From the youtube video that Erics Trains listed on the BN (TMCC) this sure looks like a lot of fun to be had.
