Looking at the frozen 2 starter set for my girls. I’ve never had lion chief before. All my stuff is run traditionally with a regular old power pack. Currently the z-1000 from MTH. DO I need to swap out my track for the plug terminal section from this set? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Nope. These will run on the same track and AC transformer you are using now. Just need to run it with the remote or Bluetooth App. The power for the transfomer should be set around 16-18 volts.
I just picked this set up (plus the Olaf's Flurry add-on tank car) for my granddaughter and plan on doing a review when I get a chance. It worked well with both the included remote and BT.
It runs well; the caboose and tender are lighted/illuminated; several cars have sprung trucks; and it has some special "Frozen announcements" by the characters and I'm sure they will like it.

That brings another question. I was told by a dealer that the 18 volts has to be instant as soon as power is applied. Not a gradual buildup from 0 volts. Can somebody verify?
AVR,
If the transformer lever is set on 18 Volts, isn't that instant and constant voltage? On the other hand, maybe you have to connect the constant voltage post from your transformer to the track connection? I dunno either.

That is not accurate. That is only true for command engines.
If a command engine is on the track and the power (and Legacy/TMCC signal) is brought up too slowly, the engine will think that it is being started in conventional and it will not be under command control.
Since LC engines only have one operational mode, that rule does not apply.
P.S. - perhaps as a safety precaution, some transformers, notably the MTH Z4K, will not start with the lever(s) up.
