Hey, anyone know what the significance of the large lettering/small lettering on the UP veranda tenders is all about? I've been reading everything I can find on line and can find no mention of why there are 2 sizes of letterings available for these engines. Was one of them an earlier version and one a later version? I'd like to select the one that most closely resembles the original as-delivered units in 1954 if possible. Any help from the UP gurus would be appreciated! Thanks, David O.

David,

I checked into that tender lettering myself. In a book I have on UP Turbines (Can't remember the name). But the short of it is the Veranda's were delivered without tenders, then maybe 6 months or so later they received tenders. At first painted like the tender with number 61. By 1956 or 57 they were re-lettered like the tender on 69. I went with the 69 today.
