So who is ordering which veranda?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
Up #69 for me.
I'm torn between the UP, SP, or Army one
Ain't no doubt about it for me, The DoD Army fantasy scheme is my choice. With the added features and a decent street price discount, she will be a good companion to the Army "Sharknose" I currently have on order with my local hobby store.
I would love one but I have 54 and 64 curves. It would be a tough decision on which one. Probably UP or Army.
I was going to order the Pennsy, but Lionel used the wrong cab number.

Trying to figure out what number would be appropriate. It was the lone AAAA1 on the roster or in more modern terms a TF-85.
Bob B, I think you could get past the number, the new Veranda would look fantastic on your beautiful layout. Hope all is well in the Cincinnati neighborhood. Happy Railroading Everyone
Hey, anyone know what the significance of the large lettering/small lettering on the UP veranda tenders is all about? I've been reading everything I can find on line and can find no mention of why there are 2 sizes of letterings available for these engines. Was one of them an earlier version and one a later version? I'd like to select the one that most closely resembles the original as-delivered units in 1954 if possible. Any help from the UP gurus would be appreciated! Thanks, David O.
I went ahead and ordered the Army veranda and the amtrak acela concept with add on cars.
David,
I checked into that tender lettering myself. In a book I have on UP Turbines (Can't remember the name). But the short of it is the Veranda's were delivered without tenders, then maybe 6 months or so later they received tenders. At first painted like the tender with number 61. By 1956 or 57 they were re-lettered like the tender on 69. I went with the 69 today.
#67, the Greyhound version. I have a pair of the original TMCC ones (one of which is on the workbench for motor control reasons). I hope that the Grey one gets built, even in a small quantity. Interesting to see what other people have opted for.

I don't have fantasy engines on my layout, but if I did this would be it. With the correct cab number, of course.
I ordered UP #69. The Pennsy version is rather sharp, however.
Does anyone know if these engines will run on O64 curves? Wondering if anyone with the original version tried it?
I ordered #61..waiting to here from Legacy Station.
I started a thread yesterday that the new Verandas are in! Can't any of you read? DUH?
Didn’t see it and we can read sometimes lol.
Just received the bill from Legacy Station and just paid it. The Veranda is on it way.
