Hi! just got new Lionel Legacy Wabash FA (powered and unpowered) units. Also got a powered FB, but it doesn't have an orange engine id module. How should I proceed? Do I need such a module? Help appreciated!

Contact Lionel warranty.
There is nothing in the orange module you can key in on the CAB2 remote. Of course, if you have the LCS sensor track, it's even easier, just drive across it with any new Legacy locomotive.
See pages 56-58 in your legacy control system manual for instructions on manully loading the info. Its easy.
I bought a B unit legacy f3 that lacked one. I contacted L and they told me no longer supplied and emailed me instructions to program cab-2 to run it.
The sensor track is cabled to the Legacy Command base, when the locomotive rolls over the sensor track, it uploads all the information to the command base and it appears on the CAB2. It's all part of the Lionel LCS System.
I guess all that Jon Z. needed to hear last year was few folks saying the modules weren't needed. Now, there's Harold and all he wants to do is run his train. Not program a Cab 2.
Thanks John. Your fast. I got lazy and should have used search or google which I went to subsequent.

no one said that.
is was a Lionel decision, way above Jon Z.
Guys, it takes seconds to key in info.
Geez Marty, it takes me at least 10-15 seconds, how do you do it so fast? Do you use short names for the locomotives?
John, I do just that. As long as I know what it is.
Thanks guys! I will key in the information to the B and then create a train.
Have now created a train with A-B-A combo. All units smoke and look good!

Depends on is you operate trains seasonally or regularly. For me it took much more than a few seconds.
Box says its enclosed. You go digging through all your packing/box again trying to locate ... not there. Then you communicate with the 'talk to us'. Wait on response. Then you take instructions they send back or locate on your on. Then you program it your self.
Many of us are seasonal and not a 'take seconds' kind of experience. Much rather have module in box like advertised.
