Has anyone used the new standard gauge track with the roadbed? If so, what are your thoughts.

Yes. In fact that's all I'm using now. No problems with it at all. You can use a tinplate switch with it very little surgery on the plastic tabs and use track pins. I run O gauge Fastrack and it looks good next to it.
A great product if you plan to run your trains on carpet, as they help to keep the carpet fibers out of the trains, and the trains (oil and dirt) out of the carpet. As the co-owner of USA Track I am a bit prejudiced, but otherwise I still prefer traditional tubular track for every other application.
I agree with SGMA1. Good for the carpet.
I just don't think that it looks good with tinplate trains. Prefer the traditional look myself but that's just a personal preference.
