Working on the exploded view parts list for the 6-28029 UP Big Boy #4006 from back in 1999.
We have received some calls from folks who have had the mounting bosses on the front steam chest break off the original model in the past. To date we have not had any better solution than to reattach them with JB Weld. Lionel is happy to report this is no longer the case!
We have discovered the front steam chests on the JLC Challengers fits this early Big Boy perfectly and has a much thicker mounting boss to prevent this from ever happening again. These steam chests are availble under part number 6SP8064024 and are in stock! I apologize for the previous solution, but our hands were tied until just late last night when we discovered this cross compatibility with these steam chests!
There should be a complete bill in the Replacement Parts site by late this evening for this early Big Boy 6-28029. JLC Challengers and Y-6b's will be following this one.
