Wait 15 days and put your order in to your dealer.
I hope there are N&W Auxiliary Tenders in there.
Yes, I can see the excitement growing, emotions flowing, looking for a mystery train, accessory, rolling stock to be unveiled, similar to the night before Christmas, and the count down is here, 15 long days away, Oh, what a day it will be, to see what Lionel has for Me..(and You)..Wow, what a wonderful hobby it is...Happy Railroading. Great post, thank you....
hear is what i hope to see as far as locomotives go
MK5000C
SD70ACe T4
ET44AC
B40-8
KRAUS MAFFEI ML4000 hood unit
SD50M-3
4-8-0 Mollies
Rio grande L105
BQ23-7
DD40AX
MK1200G
F125
Siemens Charger
MP36PH-3C
DD35B
ALCO C630
ALCO C855
Perhaps already mentioned, but it was mentioned by Megan that there will be two new "starter" sets, off the typical schedule, one Southern Pacific and one the Hot Wheels set with orange Fastrack.
It sems fairly clear that Lionel reps asked those present not to share the catalog contents prior to its release to dealers. Not unreasonable nor a problem since knowing about the contents is not a life or death issue .
Between the Lionel 2017 V2 catalog on August 17 and Bond 25 on November 8, 2019, I AM PUMPED!
oh i forgot one train i would like to see
CP Holiday train
Another Southern Pacific Set? Jeeeez
Would like to see a BNSF Scale Diesel Set with intermodal cars, Southern Pacific Bloody Nose F units, or a Postwar Remake of the Milwaukee Road F3's
"Another Southern Pacific Set? Jeeeez"
I believe this will be a "starter set" not a scale set, but we'll know in 15 days, more or less.
how about some new polar railroad items like the GP7 and SD90mac we had awhile back
Would like:
Alco DH643 - the successful (unlike the Krauss-Maffei) diesel-hydraulic on the SP - nicknamed "alcohaulics", I believe. They could "empty the yard".
Never-done NYC Big Steam - like H-10 Mike, K-5 Pacific, their 2-6-6-2 (yes, they did), 0-8-8-0 hump switcher (yes, they did). This has become my mantra.
GM&O (and other) Baby-Face Baldwins - other than the Centipedes.
All of the above are useless daydreaming, of course. The NYC H-10 and K-5 ideas shouldn't have been this hard to get, but they have been.
It would be great if in the Volume 2 catalog there were O scale 89' flat cars with Auto Racks THAT ARE painted in 1970's and 1980's era Trailer Train schemes with auto rack schemes for the Norfolk and Western, Denver & Rio Grande Western, Missouri Pacific, COTTON BELT SSW, SCL, L&N, SOUTHERN green, Western Pacific, FRISCO, and The Milwaukee Road. I would actually pay for those 1970's railroads on TRAILER TRAIN 89' flat cars. Please get the graphics right by consulting the archives of TTX and freight car builders.
Andrew
Thank you.
Andrew... that sounds great
I will now wait til any Lionel item hits the streets before purchasing them. I hope the AFT and the Conrail OCS set arrive as stated in the catalog. ... And not all at once!

Wasn't the NYC 0-8-8-0 pretty much a total failure apart from altering the one into two lesser locomotives. But I do understand the modeler wanting any and every locomotive their favorite railroad owned, even if the railroad regretted ever wasting good money purchasing it.
Well, Lionel made Baldwin Centipedes and the actual locomotive was a huge disappointment to the railroad. But have they ever considered making a Baldwin Babyface DR4-4-15? I would guess that they felt it wouldn't sell well.
Lionel's experts decide what they believe will sell. And that is what they should do. I am usually both pleased and disappointed with every catalog.
My hope for this coming catalog is for it to be significantly different from 2017 Vol 1.

I'd go for the H-10 and K-5 lettered for the P&LE RR thank you.

Well, in that podcast Ryan Kunkle said "Looking over some Great Northern art for a new project we're working on right now we are actually changing the orange color".
I would like to see a Milwaukee Road Mallet. They did acquire one from Wheeling & Lake Erie which had been used in the northwest
Kudos to the LCCA attendees for keeping this a secret. I'm impressed. For those of us that enjoy the surprise of what is to come, thank-you. And remember, no matter how much I beg, no matter what I say, absolutely do not tell me what is in the catalog!
Ok, ok....please tell me, I can't take it anymore. I was just kidding...tell me please!
So just to break the monotony, anyone venture a guess what movie I was paying tribute to? BigRail

Well, this "tell some of the kids and keep it a secret from the others" thing seems like grade-school-level stuff to me. Pretty silly.
Just IMHO, of course.

I know right just print the darn thing i can't stand the wait anymore
especially if it is all new stuff
"I would like to see a Milwaukee Road Mallet."
Jim911, I'm with you 100%.
I would like to see character handcars. Lionel has paid for the rights to some comic book characters and some Disney characters. I know that when I talked to some Lionel employees at the World's Greatest Hobby Show when it was in Phoenix in Feb., one mentioned that they are working on Wi-Fi for handcars and that has delayed future releases; I say forget the electronics.

What do you expect from a bunch of grown men that play with toy trains??
Having said that, the idea that it won't be a rehash of Vol 1 sounds interesting.
I just have a hunch it will be mostly Lionels line of "throw away trains".
I truly am excited about the new catalog debut, however, if there are exciting items to buy, BTO, I will more than likely have to pass if they are not delivered to my dealer, DTMD, before April 1, 2018....Yes, I plan to retire around that time. So, I will have to hope for some great deals here on the forum...It's been fun, but I am getting older and in reality, I have been blessed with enough nice trains to enjoy for many years to come. I will then be visiting my friends all around the USA and seeing some of the really nice layouts posted on this forum, and those that made the pages of OGR THE MAGAZINE, and of course, OGR THE VIDEO. Happy Railroading....

If I were a betting man (which I'm not), I'd say ALL the 21" passenger sets that have been catalog'd over the past 2 years (except for the Theatre cars) will arrive in December 2017. So get your wallets ready, everyone.
Any ONE of these sets is a good chunk of change, but I feel for some of you guys who have multiple passenger sets on order. You're gonna get whallop'd in December.

If you planned accordingly you should be fine. They've given everyone more than enough time, intentionally or not, to fund these pre orders.
I can say I've never understood this line of thinking especially when items have been delayed. Seems you should have had the money for the original due date. Obviously everyone handles their money differently so I guess if you need to start saving, now is the time.

Membership has it's privileges. Attending the convention I guess has it's perks as well. I have no issue with this. It's all part of being a member of the LCCA to see advanced product. I'm sure if someone really wanted to "let the cat" out of the bag so to speak, no one will go to jail over it.
