I tried converting a Railking engine this morning for dcc operation but after cutting the appropriate wire it is giving me no joy. There is a malfunction somewhere in the dcc portion of the board that causes a serious loss of voltage and rise of amperage when the engine is placed on the tracks (according to my RRampmeter), and it brings any other engine running on the layout to a stop. I can call up the engine with the default address and start it up but any attempts to have it move forward or reverse results in jerky movements with little to no control over speed. I did wire in a switch so that I could choose between dcc and DCS and the DCS side works perfectly. I'm assuming a bad dcc portion of the board and was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Since I have it all opened up I'm probably going to rip out the PS3 guts and replace it with a TCS WOW sound decoder that I have. It's too bad that MTH had to dumb down the Railking line and take out the selector switch or maybe this bad unit would have been discovered at the factory.
