Just ran into this. My Var 1 Channel is set to fixed and the Var 1 Signal switch is on but I get no signal out of the TIU, I had been running on this channel for several months, Var 2 which I don't use is the same way. I did a feature reset on the TIU and nothing changed so I did a factory reset with the same result. For now I can run OK on the two fixed channels but want to get this resolved. I am using a Android tablet using the advanced features and in system. Ran into this on a friends layout using a IOS device and had the same problem till I used a old remote and set both Var channels to fixed which solved the problem Don't have access to a old remote right now so can't try that . All the features are fine on the fixed channels. have switched engines back and forth, but signal is not getting to the engine. Then I turned the var channel to fixed the power comes up to 19V, the engines powered up but there is no signal/control. Every thing TIU WIU and Tablet are at latest upgrades. Thoughts?

First, the resets set the variable channels back to variable mode.
Second, if you use a variable channel from a remote's TRK Screen or an app's Track Screen, you reset tle channel to variable temporarily.
Third, you should set the variable channels to fixed from any remote or app that you intend to use with the channels.

I'm a remote only operator but you must be able to turn on the dcs signal with Menu/System/dcs set up/ aon????All signals on??? using the Tablet? No??Yes??
Barry, Thanks for the response, I followed page 120-121 in the DCS WIFI Companion. You said in your reply that you set the signal "temporarily". If I go to the advanced and settings and turn on the signal for Var 1 am I doing something that turns it off again when i leave the settings feature?
When I said temporarily, it means that when set to fixed mode, a variable channel will stay that way until it is either
- Set back to variable mode
- It's accessed via the remote's TRK screen or the app's Track Screen. In this case, it will go back to Fixed mode if power to the TIU is cycled.
This is in both books.
OK, but the TIU Var 1 is putting 19 v to the track and the signal is on in the app but there is no signal the on track. I'll check the track screen.
Might be a hardware issue. If so should be repairable. G
Seems odd both Var channels would give up the ghost at the same time... Find a dcs remote. I know this sounds silly but you do have the red tiu output to center rail. Yes proto-3s apparently don't care but it's a must for proto-2.
Yes it is set up that way. Red to center rail.
