This will be the final chapter about my MTH PS-1 #75 Union Pacific Veranda Turbine engine and tender from 1998 in case any Forum member has one like it. You may recall from my first post that the tender speaker didn't make any sound, but the engine did. Responses to my post indicated that this tender shouldn't have a speaker because the engine did, nor should it have a five-wire tether like it does. I decided to take the shells off and do a continuity test. I took readings from the connection point of the engine speaker to the tender tether, the tether to tender speaker, and engine connection point to the speaker. All tested o.k. My final check was to get the stethoscope from my garage tool box and do a sound check with the hollow tube portion of the stethoscope. Low and behold, sound is indeed coming from the tender speaker. The problem is the volume is much less than half of what the engine puts out, so it is hard to hear and there is no separate volume control for the tender. At least I know it's working and don't have to worry about it anymore.
