Great news for those interested in the Non-Contact Turnout Points True Position Detectors.

In addition to the LED signals I have been supplying for the Non-Contact Position Detectors (NCPD), there now are several more choices.

O-Gauge Dwarf LED Green over Red Signal

One of my valued customers found these signals and sent me two to test. They look and work great. (At least, in my humble opinion.)

These dwarf signals can be used by themselves and can be powered directly by the new NCPD’s without any other components required. The dwarf signals have a built-in current limiting resistor, and even though the NCPD’s also have current limiting resistors, there is no need to remove the ones on the signals.

This is how they look in the actual application – my layout.

Green - Points set straight.

Red - Points set curved.

Both Green and Red OFF - Points in never-never land; even by as little as a 1/32" from fully thrown.

I was going to but these signals in quantity and offered them together with the NCPD’s, but the honest truth is that it is just about as cheap for you to buy them directly from the supplier. I provide this information in my recent thread in the For Sale forum section.

ALSO,

These dwarf signals, as well as the ones I offer, can be used in conjunction with the bicolor (red-green) common anode LED at the control panel – connected in parallel and driven by the new NCPD’s. The only requirement is that the LED’s at the control panel must have a 560ω connected in series with the anode, but this is no big deal.

This is how they would look.

Thanks!

My detectors are stand alone - they detect the actual position of the throw bar, and hence the points, directly. They do not look at any other signals except their own.

They provide a 20-25ma sinking output, which is perfect to drive LED's directly. With some LED's, as the ones I mentioned above, two LED's can be driven in parallel; such as one (a dwarf signal, for example) at the turnout, and another at the panel (a bicolor comoon anode LED) at the control panel.

For a background of this invention, please visit this thread.

Thanks!

I order these dwarf signals through Ebay.  The supplier is from China.  There were some threads here on the forum about them.  I use them with all my Atlas switches but I have them wired through the Atlas 6924 Non Derail boards.

They work great and are really inexpensive.  I paint mine and mount them to concrete pads. Looks like they are an excellent addition to Alex's Non-Contact Position Detectors (NCPD).

I updated My Thread in the For Sale forum with the detectors I have now in stock, and two Video links. These tend to go fast, and the guys who have bought them have been pleased.

As far as the Dwarf Signals, I will be ordering some and offering them for sale, but only together with the detectors, at a price as close as possible to the 'other' online price.
