You really do learn something new every day.

I was looking at a Scale Lionel steel sided reefer the other day. It's a non operating car but I glanced through the "instruction" sheet anyway for fun. "Caution!" Do not attemp to open doors....I took this to mean maybe molded in doors, something like that.

20180525_08262020180525_084653I then noticed a small sliver of light coming through the plug door edge. Well what do you know! They do operate!20180525_082725A slight tug on the handle will cause the door to pop out and travel on it's guide.20180525_082750The door guide has a curved metal band that makes it act just like a real plug door. Very smooth action. 20180525_082817A fun feature I didn't know existed on this reefer!20180525_082830If I went by the instruction sheet I might have missed this entirely.

I dunno.. seems like "do not attemp to open the plug doors" is fairly straight forward. Additionally, there is no mention of operating/ sliding doors as a feature of this reefer either on the included instruction sheet or on the box end description.

I am very happy it has this feature. All I'm saying is that I don't know that I would have realised it if I hadn't dug a little further on my own. I wanted to share my experience with other owners who may have been unaware of this feature, as I was. Just one of the pleasant surprises that is Lionel!
