The NSOU unit's (on turntable) numberboards were changed to 1982 on left side and 2012 on right side.

What a terrific rainbow of railroad colors...  Love it!!!  I don't normally repeat the picture in my responses, but I thought this was so great I'd make an exception here. 

And how ironic... just enough tracks for the newly painted heritage locomotives along with the parent company locomotive on the turntable.  Funny co-incidence?

I must agree, what a great modern day photo, and at a great location.  NS did a great job with this and they all look great. 

A video taken on the turntable as it slowy rotates would be a great thing to see.

I was also wondering/hoping there is a full resolution shot made available as it now has to be stretched to fill my desktop and gets a bit pixelated.

Since Norfolk Southern has been so active in documenting its heritage endeavors, I'm hopeful a commemorative publication utilizing these wonderful images might be in the works. Some years back, NS sponsored a softcover book titled "Steam Spirit" which paid tribute to its steam excursion program. Given the popularity these specially painted units have generated, I suspect such a book would be much in demand.

Very fitting that Norfolk Southern chose the "home church" of Southern named for its first President, Samuel Spencer. Many a green and gold Ps-4 Pacific and T-s Mountain painted in those Shops back in the day.

The scene itself reminds me of the colorful Cab units that often congregated and were photographed in Jacksonville Yard back in the late 1940s and early 1950s: The Florida East Coast, Seaboard, Atlantic Coast Line, Illinois Central, Southern and Central of Georgia. 

I have to hand it to them. They did an outstanding job. Class act.

Now if NS would bring back the steam program with the N&W's 611 and 1218 that would be more icing on the cake.

And if you wanted to replicate that on your O-Gauge pike, you'll need a little bit of real estate plus $8K+ (give or take a few $$$ using MTH announced pricing to estimate street prices) for the locomotives -- not to mention the cost of the turntable and roundhouse.  A pretty expensive undertaking for sure!!!

WE WERE ABLE TO GET A PICTURE WITH OUR CLUB MEMBERS AND MIKE WOLF. HE ALSO HAD A PRE-PRODUCTION SAMPLE OF THE PREMIER ES44 CONRAIL DIESEL ENGINE AND A PREMIER READING SD70ACE DIESEL ENGINE ALONG WITH A RAILKING AND H.O. NORFOLK-SOUTHERN SD70ACE. A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!!!
