Norm, thanks for the heads up on directions, see you on the 23rd.
Jack
Norm,
Looks like we are going to have a few guys and gals for breakfast,
you might want to see if we can get the better part of the back room!
I will try to get out there a little early, to help you out.
PCRR/Dave
Well,
I just got in from my Saturday errands which included breakfast at Dick's. They WILL NOT give us a room or promise that we can sit together. I was told that they are just too busy and cannot accomodate our group in such a manner. After apologetics, the lady in charge asked that we come for breakfast and she would do the best that she could.
I sat at the counter at 9:45. There were at least 15 people waiting in line with a couple of counter spaces. At 10:30 the line had 3 people.
There is an Eat'n Park/Big Boy (breakfast buffet) nearby that may work if there is any consensus.
Norm
Norm,
You can now see why I was avoiding Dicks in the 1st place, for some reason
they just do not want to accommodate gatherings any more. If the men want to go further down the road to the Murrysville Eat'n Park I believe we should consider having breakfast there. Your idea of the Breakfast Buffet sounds good to me also.
PCRR/Dave
Eat N Park sounds goog to me .
There's a Kings restaurant on Rt 48 in Monroeville that will accommodate large groups, Kings is the best
revolgnad,
Kind of far out of the way for some of these guys like Jim Sutter coming in form
Homer City, in case you don't know that's up by Indiana, Pa. We were trying to keep it in the Murrysville area some place. There is a Kings however in Murrysville also.
PCRR/Dave
Norm,
If it's any help, King's (at least the one out here in Wexford) will give you their back room (which accomodates at least 25 people)as long as the group spends a total of $25 which should be no problem. I did this a few years ago when my friend Mitchell Dakelman who is the NRHS archivist came out and spent the evening showing us old train films. We had dinner first, then watched movies all evening. There were about 20 of us, and it was a great time. I'll admit, the food is better at Dick's however!
Pine Creek RR
I was thinking more about Doc aka Stur-it cause he" LOVES "Kings !!
I won't be the farthest away. Right now you have a gentleman coming from State College and one from Ligonier. What about the King's in Delmont?
Neal
I was at that Kings last night having dinner right outside of that particular room and and was thinking about that get together you arraigned, was fun and interesting.
After apologetics, the lady in charge asked that we come for breakfast and she would do the best that she could.
Norm
Norm,
It is very nice of you to co ordinate this, not suprising coming from one of the nicest persons ive met.Thats why i threw out the visit to you all.
With such a big response in
my very humble opinion is that you stick to your original plan . If in the meantime you find another place that can actually put 20 people together on a Saturday then just let us all know.I may come with a freind or two.(Dicks-Lamplighter-eat n park-Alexanders-Fridays-Blairsville Diner or Dans favorite, kings LOL etc).
Wont be any different than the after church rush on Sunday morning which is way bigger than Saturday. Get a good meal then if you didnt get to get all your talking in you can come here and do all the talking you want.I cant see 20 people being able to all get together in any restaurant anyway.Being you just started the thread a few days ago there may be more.
Norn,
Why not try to get the back room at either Kings or Eaten Park, the way this is going, I am betting we have about 20 people show up.
PCRR/Dave
McDonalds is way better than Kings. JMO- I don't eat at Kings, Denny's or Bob Evans.
Upon further review, the Lamp Lighter in Delmont has very good food and might accommodate a large group maybe a private room would be worth a call.
The Lamp Lighter in Delmont or the Eat N' Park in Murrysville is fine with me.
I'll check on the Eat'n Park,Lamplighter and King's at Rt. 22 and 66. One of these will be able to accomodate this crew,I'm sure.
Norm
Hey If I am paying for food I want to be able to eat it.
Can't Please everyone and I know this so just pick a place. I am sure there are many places I like to eat at that others do not. I can always eat at home and just come for coffee. I don't drink Starbucks either that is the worst coffee ever. Again JMO
I'm good with where ever you can get. Just let me know. As long as they have home fries.
Rick
Norm -
If you are still taking invites - I would like to attend next Saturday.
Just name the place. Thanks
Jim Stack
Sounds good Norm. Just decide on a place. I'll be there.
P.S. Now that I'm retired, I may need a loan.
Jim Stack,
I started this Breakfast mess, you are more than welcome, if you have a better half bring her along also.
PCRR/Dave
This is getting interesting, now I can't wait to meet all you guys, with Patrick's great layout and the eats looks like this event will rival trainstock.
Jack
Thanks Dave but she is not a train appreciator if you know what I mean.
I agree - this should be a nice get together for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the OGR Forum members.
Gentlemen,
Now we just wait and see which place Norm nails down for our breakfast get together.
PCRR/Dave
Is this where you're meeting?
I bet they have good food. Every small Dinner does.
OK ! Eat'N Park will work with us to get their room for next Sat. They suggest that someone come early, that's me,to secure it. I will go for 9:30. The manager would like a count. So starting with this post let's start one----count me in. I will check in at mid week to see that we are on track.
As a side bar,I have had breakfast with my golf league buddies here and 25-30 will not be a problem for seating and their buffet should ease the order crunch.
Norm
I'm still in.
Andy
count me in (depending on.... where is this eat-n-park?)
They have a nice Buffet- I will be there
where is this eat-n-park?)
This would be the Murrysville Eat'n Park, 4596 William Penn Hwy. (Route 22), Murrysville, PA 15668 (there are driving directions available thru the link).
Andy
Norm,
Count me in for breakfast & train talk at the Murrysville Eat'n Park (Rt 22), the 23rd of March at 10:00 AM, I will see you about 9:30 for any help you might need.
PCRR/Dave
I'll be there. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you. Most of you I know. When I start for home after our breakfast I will know everyone.
Jimmy, I hope you plan to come up for a few minutes after breakfast.I told my Dad you may be over on Saturday,he was looking forward to seeing you and hearing some of them fishin stories.
Sounds fine with me.
Jim Stack
Count me in Norm, thank you for the invite. Can we bring our favorite loco to breakfast?
Pat, yes I'm planning on coming up to see you, your father and your layout.
Hey, guys, I'll be there too. I made name tags for everyone. So far I have 16 names.
