I have a couple of questions about some of the Geep rebuilds NS has done it the past few years and need some questions answered by those "In the know". I know that the 5800 series GP38-3 are being built from former Southern GP50. As I understand it, they received a new cab and short hood. My question is, has the cab been moved forward closer to the pilot necessitating a shorter than normal low hood? Reason I ask is I noticed they are rebuilding some of their GP59 locos which already had a low short hood but they seem to have added some body length behind the cab mean the cab has been moved forward creating a very stubby short hood.
