NS heritage units/ pictures added

Are the headlights in the correct place on all of them?

The headlights are in the right position, still looking for to see how the rear lights are positioned. Tough to find pictures of the rear of the real locomotives. . But from what I have seen they are right also.

 

On the I.T. the top of the loco is black where From pictures it looks like a dark grey but hard to tell from photos Of the real thing. 

 

The major detail points seem to be correct so I am very happy with mine. 

TRAINS last year did a special on the 20 NS Heritage units called "Show Ponies".  May not have a rear view of all the units, but all should have the same place on the SD70's and ES44's.  Hence one real shot of each should cover them all.

Amazing that Lionel got the headlights in the "top position", i.e. between the number boxes, on all the heritage models, yet the regular "black" NS units have the headlight down lower on the front of the nose. Sure seems odd.

Thanks David.  Those look great.  I'm glad you are happy with the shine.  Along with Legacy sounds, the shine is one of the reasons I ordered Heritage units from Lionel.  Enjoy!

Good looking units. Also nice to see that Lionel can get the MU hoses in the proper location so they can stick out through the snow plow. Maybe MTH will figure that out someday.

I have run my 3 units at his past week and I am very happy. Great sounds, smoooooth running and they look great. 

 

Although we all complain about our train  builders, we should also praise them when they do make a great product, and the NS heritage units are it. 

Wow, nice to see that Lionel has done such a great job on those beautiful units.  I also like the idea of a gloss on the paint.  After all, the engines are new!

hey everyone here is what I got so far

Minimum radius for the LIONEL SD70ACe?  Anyone?

i believe Lionel says o42 but I would not run them on anything less then o54. I have run them on o60 and they look much better on O72. They are not made for O31. 

 

Try run the imperial ones from MTH, the y would look much better. 

They look great, I like the PC and the Wabash. Might have to pick up those two  to go with my others. 

Duplicate Lionel NS Heritage units have also been showing up in their American Flyer S gauge versions. Here is the DL&W example, as nice and full-featured as their big brothers.

I have some O42 in my yards they run fine over them

David, just curious one question, why CNJ in road number 1834 instead of 1071?

It is the dummy unit. Only the powered units have the correct numbers.

Not to seem ungrateful, but I get that they will do best on O72.  Forget about looks, overhang, shiny paint, etc.  Do these beauties run on O31 or not. 

Well it seems that nobody who bought these great engines have O31 so your best bet is to go to your LHS and test one out.

Hey I got a loop of o31 came with a set ill try one out on it an see if it will run ok just give me a cupple days to set it up and try it
