Does anyone know a source for O scale decals suitable for an SP MP15, I saw some advertised on eBay a few months ago but they are no longer listed and I don't have the link

The first place I'd look is Microscale. Not necessarily they're own website as they don't have a lot of O scale stock left. Instead I'd look at the P & D site. The decals are listed in alphabetical order, so go to page four or five til you find the SP stuff.
Do you want speed lettering or traditional? You might have to cobble something together from other sets.

Anyway, I took a look at both the P&D site and the Microscale set and I don't see any sets specific for the mp15's. The switcher set that is listed is for the early "tiger stripe" version, which won't work. The only alternatives I see for either the railroad Roman font or speed lettering are hood unit sets that you may be able to adapt to your use.
There is an old thread on OGR where member "SPSF" repainted an MTH sw1500 into SP scarlet and gray with Roman lettering. You might reach out to him to see if he can give you a lead on what he used for the lettering.
