Jim, it's hard for me to read the name on the Stadium. Does it say Champion[something] Field?
FWIW:
Football field: 100 yds playing surface, or 300'.
Proto 48 football field: Playing surface - 75" or 6' 3" long.
Wow... that sort of puts things in perspective.

"Champsfield Stadium." It was part of Department 56's "Original Snow Village" series. Long retired item.
One of my sons was playing football for little Wagner College in Staten Island. So, I figured it would be neat to have football players on our layout, and I saw this stadium on eBay at a reasonable price.

How about an Electric Football Game. I had a very old one when I was a kid. My Mom bought it for me in a junk shop. The players had little rubber things on their feet much like the Lionel cows that went with the stock car. It took you about fifteen minutes to set up both teams and about fifteen seconds to run the play. Many times the guy with the ball would turn around and run the wrong way. At least you could have moving players on your layout. This is one of the newer ones. I think they still make it. I had a very early model. Don
At 300 ft., in o scale, 75 inches long not counting an adequate perimeter, that would eat up a lot of opportunity for other scenery on my layout. But with enough space, why not?
Funny thing: while relaxing this afternoon watching a football game, the thought occurred to me to search the Forum for "football," and I found this thread I started in 2019, which I completely forgot about. LOL.
As you can see, there were very nice contributions by Jim and Don, who always do masterful work on their scenery and structures.
Does anyone else have a football field on their layout?

IMHO, anything big like runways, rivers, oceans, lakes, football fields, can be implied by showing an important corner of it (in this case the home endzone) and having the rest simply run off the edge of the layout.
What I did with my baseball fields is to make a caricature of it, not even approaching as anything close to scale. All that is necessary, IMO, is to make a model that gives the viewer a general sense of the real thing.
My future plan (aren’t they all?) is to build a combination baseball and football stadium in approximately HO scale. That would make it about 3 1/2’ down the foul lines. I also had the idea of using an electric football game for its field to place over the baseball field during pigskin season. The size would be easier to fit and would still give it a large look.
And I reserve the right to adjust the dimensions as needed.

I was thinking the same thing. A neighbor kid and I burned through several of these in the 1970s. We owned half the NFL teams and would play entire seasons. Even kept some offensive (running, of course) stats. Thanks for the memories.
The high school on my layout doesn't have any athletic spaces built, but that doesn't stop the local football team from practicing for the big game!
I confess, I'm resurrecting this thread because of the stunning upset victory today of the Giants over the Packers in England.
I can hardly contain myself. LOL.
So, if anyone has any model railroad item(s) related to football, regardless of your favorite team(s), and I don't, I would love to see it.
Arnold - your posts are the best.
In this case I must confess - I'm not a football fan, never have been. One of my best friends played pro football and my wife's family and perhaps most of my friends are fans, but I've never been interested.
The one benefit - while dating my wife she was intrigued meeting a man who didn't spend Sundays watching football. Other than going to church, I was happy taking her to the beach, for a hike, a drive in my Mustang, and so on. Now you know how an ordinary guy like me got a beautiful wife that I don't deserve...and did I mention she likes trains (and Mustangs)?

My first car was a used royal blue 1967 Mustang convertible that my father bought for me in 1974. Stupidest thing I ever did was give it away when the transmission went in 1981. I loved that car, and it was always a huge hit whenever I went on a date with a girl.

A football field is not 100 yards long unless you want to model one without any end zones. Total length is 120 yards (360 feet) long and 160 feet wide.
I think a lot of folks in the car or train hobbies have a car or train they regret selling. For me, my biggest regrets are that I should have never sold my Plymouth GTX or my MTH PRR Q2 and MTH PRR (old time) 2-8-0.

Of course, technically you are correct.
I was just throwing out the most common dimension others could relate to.
However, I think they got the gist of what I was saying.

I understand Andre. I wasn’t trying to be nasty or anything like that. Just didn’t want someone to plan something and then realize they had no room for the end zones and no offense I wasn’t “technically” correct, I was just plain correct.
IMO, much is, or can be, compressed on a train layout, and be made to work and look good. I believe such compression can be applied to a baseball or football field, which can be made to be much smaller than the size of an O scale field.
From an old layout - we had a Dept 56 Champsfield Stadium set up outside of town. It came with a set of players and fans seated in the stadium. The figures were bigger than O scale but so long as you kept them apart from other scenes, no one noticed. For the tailgate scene we added Homies figures which fit in with the larger sized football players. Not the greatest of photos, but you get the idea. I do have some Tudor Green Bay Packer figures that John A mentioned and they are closer to O than the Dept 56 set.
