Thanks
Joe
I would like one.
(Oops, thought the offer was for the sign only.)
Thank you,

Erie, not Eerie
Definely need/want one
Woolworth is good, but a SS KRESGE would be the one I would like.

Probably, after I see a completed item...
Yes sir I want one. Can still her my mother saying "I need you to go to the dime store today". Your prototype from Greensboro, NC is a dead ringer for the one I grew up with in Baltimore. Can't wait to see the finished version.
You could make an interesting historic scene with this particular Woolworths and show the civil rights protests that took place at this location in the 60's.
If if we are going with other local or regional chain stores I always liked Benny's.
Looking good, I am in also!
John
I want one but can't remember the dimensions of your sign. Can you make one to fit the 5 1/2 inch front of an Ameri-Towne building? Please let me know what/when I might receive one.
Nice idea.
Is that a shorter - compressed version of the building?
I like it. We even had one in a similar style out here in Los Angeles.
is this just the sign, or the complete building?
I only remember one Woolworth, and it was in our mall. But we had some McCrory's, and plenty of GC Murphy's, and some nice ones at that.

Dave,
We are making the whole building kit.
There are 5 signs available for the same building. Your choice of any of the 5 signs available.
A classic Five and Dime with windows large enough to show off a lunch counter, check-out line, etc. Fantastic idea! Can't wait to see the final product.
Emile
It looks great. What will the footprint be?
yep
It looks great. What will the footprint be?
The footprint is 14.0" (56 feet) across the front and probably 5.0" deep. We were going to make it deeper, but decided to compress the depth so it doesn't create a problem in downtown scenes using Ameritowne and other buildings not very deep. Woolworth's Kresge and the other affiliated stores were dominant in small cities like Lancaster, Scranton, Harrisburg, Perth Amboy and many similarly sized cities. This building can be flanked by other River Leaf downtown buildings, or Ameritowne and still dominant the street with the 14.0" width - as the real Woolworths stores did in the 30's, 40's and 50's.
That is one fancy building compared to the old Woolworth stores I remember as a kid. I love the one they had in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou". Those old stores had everything -all US made.
W.T. Grant, which is the one I worked for between semesters, was also a large chain
with a store in downtown Louisville, Ky. to compete with Woolworth's. Kresge's and McCrory's were both there, too.
Here is the finished product.
The finished building has a footprint of 14.0" x 5.00". As stated above, this quarter scale reproduction is based on the original Woolworths building in Greensboro, North Carolina.
This structure is available with your choice of two different Woolworth's signs, Kresse, Kresge or McCrorys signage.
Every attached to the building shown above is included in your kit. Sidewalks, figures, vehicles are NOT included. The window frames, door frames, cornice, decorative trim, and signage are all included.
The interior images will be available on the River Leaf Models website. These are stretched out in this photo and we will provide selections for your use, or find some that suit your taste. They are many images out there. Instructions will also be available for download from the website.
The retail price is $109.95 plus shipping. For orders placed before Midnight Monday, August 10, 2015, take advantage of sale pricing at $100.00 even plus shipping.

Andre.

Sweet, wish we has a spot for it on our club layout. I would buy it in a minute.
Any chance of getting the fancy scrollwork that is around the side and top of the sign?
I will have to think hard about this offer over the weekend. My great grandfather worked for Mr. Kresge when he was first expanding his operations. He would move into a new town, rent the space, hire the staff, open the store, and train everyone. Once it was established he would move on to the next town and open another store for Kresge Five & Dime. My uncle has the Colt revolver that Kresge gave him on his forced retirement due to a heart condition back in the 20s. It would be appropriate on my layout. It's just a shame that I don't currently have a layout.
Andre,
Woolworth's always brings back memories of riding from our rural home into the 'big city' of Butler, Pennsylvania. The 5 and 10 cents store was always on the list of stops; there and J. C. Penny's.
Here are a couple of photos. I remember it as the '50s false facade building in the second photo, but have seen the first photo many times to recognize it right away. Your model is an excellent example of these buildings. Looks like my birthday and Christmas gifts are going to be taken care of for the next two years!!
Thanks for producing such great models!
Andre, your Woolworth building is really really nice.

Your building is great. Besides the footprint dimension, what's the height? Also, need to see side and rear views. Are exterior of sides finished? Any possibility of an optional side with windows? A side with window would make the building a great corner structure.
Suggestion for next structure might be a movie theater or possibly a drive in movie structures kit. Ameritowne theatre with optional flashing marque is nice but for whatever reason they never provided a printed interior for it as they have for many of their other buildings. (Perhaps, if possible, River Leaf might provide a download photo showing an interior lobby scene for the Ameritowne theater since they obviously have no interest themselves in making one available to purchasers of that kit.)

Height is eight inches.
