Can you use an airbrush to paint the sides? or is a spray can the way to go?

I used spray can. Worked great.
Jim,
As Josef said, spray can work well.
little sand paper after dry and then apply the 2nd hand.

Andre,
I tried to get to your website a few times today - it appears to be down and once I get through I am being redirected. Not sure if this is a problem on my end or your but thought you should know.
and don't forget the Ben Franklin stores
Ben Franklin is still around, although now it is now a crafts store.

In Point Pleasant, N.J., there's a two-story antique store that apparently was a
Woolworth's back in the day. It has a deep recessed doorway and the floor leading
up to the door is a mosaic tile construction with a large 'W' in the center. All other
signage relating to Woolworth's is gone.

Thank you guys for the ideas!
I can make the Franking Sign available too.
My Web site still under construction for few more days so any question please feel free to contact me at andreemd@gmail.com
John,
The prototype was painted using spray cans:
-grey primer
-flat black
-red
-Flat white.
Lettering I used golden acrylic paint.
Glue, I recommend tide-bond III (green) for the structure.
Some CA for glass and frames. Katz CA doesn't leave the white haze after you apply it.
Any other question please contact me.
Andre.
Just got my confirmation that it should arrive today......looking forward to it!
Peter

You are an inspiration, and so is your work.
I am about to roll out my very first kit. I am working out the final details on an 1886 Eastlake Victorian house that sits on our local museum property.
I have been sweating a little for enough time for all this- a LOT of 3:30 a.m. risings to work on the kits until I have to get ready for my day job in the medical field.
Thanks so much! It is great to know that this can be done, even after a career at HP.
All the best!

Beautiful house for modeling, Roger!!
I always was dreaming about make models. So one day I decide that is time to start.
and here I am doing what I like to do.
Andre.
These are wonderful models. Like many of us, I grew up with Woolworth's in my neighborhood and when we moved out of the Bronx up to Carmel, NY there was a Ben Franklin in town. Both of my children worked there through High School.
Now let's see, where can I fit one (or both) in?
