I got a used MTH DCS control system from my garage sale hunting son and it has version 3.10 installed. Also, I won a Warbonnet Santa Fe MTH Proto 3.0 diesel engine on eBay. Time for a test. I put the new engine on a piece of straight track, hooked up the system and did a "find engine". After deleting the two older Proto 2.0 engines that were already listed on the handheld, it found my new engine seamlessly. Everything work's perfectly and I'm quite impressed with my new purchase. Now, is there any reason to upgrade my DCS system to the new 4.0? Mike's DCS control site seem's "down for vacation" so I'm not able to check the new version out.

Judging by what I've read on the forum, a lot of you have already done this upgrade. So, what I need to fathom from all this is, "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it." Is 4.0 really that much better than what I have?

Thank's for the info Barry. After several tries, I was able to open the file and........jeez, what a string of gobble-de gook! If you don't have this bla-bla version of; will do irrepairable harm; yadda, yadda. You know what. I have a computer wiz at my beck and call. I call him grandson. I think I'll let him straighten out this mish-mash.  Protoxxx is......Easier, HUH!!! Thank's for the load Mike.
