Here's an odd one for ya:
DC can motor, DRM and digital horn. The DRM puts out DC power to the motor, like most do.
Here's the weird part: After sitting with no power for some time in the "off" position, the DRM resets itself to whatever the default is. In the case of this traditional Alco FA, that's reverse.
So, if you want to change the default to forward, simply reverse the leads, right?
Wrong. Even if you reverse the leads on this one, the little indefinite STILL goes in reverse!
If you switch the DRM to the "on" position, it goes forward-neutral-reverse like it should. And, if you lock it in forward, it works fine. Until it sits for a while. Then it's a back up baby all the way?
Why the deuce would it do that? I can dig the "defaulting to reverse" bit, I'm used to that from Rail King DRMs. But still in reverse after I switch the leads? I know they ARE the motor leads; if I disconnect one, the motor doesn't work but the light and horn do.
Any suggestions? I'm about ten seconds away from tearing out the DRM, putting in a bridge rectifier and making the little indefinite forward-only...
