Along time ago, I asked whether my scratch built reefer was apocryphal and there was a reply with info that verified there were such cars.  But that thread was so long ago that I could not find it so I resorted to google. I found images of several cars googling "35 foot refrigerator rr cars."

White Swan Shortening, Carstens Packing Co., USA; Seattle Car Mfg Co, Builders. The image is car no. T.C.L.R. 108.

Frye & Company Refrigerator Line, Car 508, same car mfg co.

Here is a photo of my scratch build version. I used a donor car for the frame, arch bar trucks and o gauge couplers.

I am interested in rr oddities that would be enjoyable and not too difficult to build.

The Yosemite Lumber Company railroad climbs out of the Merced River Canyon using a 7800 foot long incline railroad with a 72 % grade. All the equipment on the Yosemite Lumber Company railroad had to be designed to be cable pulled up this steep incline.   The tank car was probably used to haul fuel up the incline.   The dome would have be put at one end, the upper end on the incline, to avoid filling it with liquid.
