What amount of smoke fluid would be considered too much for a TMCC steam engine made in 2003? I have stuck with 1.2ml and have noticed excessive film and slight wheel spin from the engine. All traction tires are there!

RJ, you need to give us the product number for any kind of help. Someone here will certainly give you some suggestions.
Here is the product number 6-38021
That uses the original 6108507200 27 ohm smoke unit. Usually 20 drops would be a good start however many would say to use much more. Most likely the batting material is charred so much that it doesn’t absorb the fluid anymore perhaps allowing the fluid to run all over the unit making a mess. Search the forum for repairing smoke units and you will find new/improved packing and how to install. I guess your wheel spin could be coming from spilled fluid getting down to the wheels. Rebuild the smoke unit and dry off the exterior and hopefully you’ll be back in business.
