I had Lionel repair a Legacy cab 2 remote for a cracked screen about 2 years ago. When I got it back, there must a small piece floating around inside.
1. Is it easy to open the remote and put it back together easily?

2. I had to send the base back and when I received it back, the antenna is a little loose. It is easy to open the base to tighten the nut inside for the antenatal and put it back together easily?

Lionel upgraded both pieces to the latest version then, not the 1.72 cab 2 version now. I intend on doing the blue module upgrade to a writable one using Marty’s YouTube video and bring that to York so he can install the 1.72 version for the cab 2 remotes.
I’ve opened cab 1 remotes and bases plenty of times but never opened the Legacy units.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

1. Is it easy to open the remote and put it back together easily? No, not easy because of the alignment of several pieces, one loose one being the reset button plastic. That's probably one reason why Lionel insisted only they did repairs, it's extremely complicated. I have taken one apart and vowed never to do it again.

2. I had to send the base back and when I received it back, the antenna is a little loose. It is easy to open the base to tighten the nut inside for the antenatal and put it back together easily? The base has similar problems, There is a plastic piece for the reset, but also the screen grills for the vents are held by the back. Again , I largely consider this a pretty tedious task to assemble correctly with NO mistakes or missing or loose parts.

Might as well get the actual latest, 1.74 for the CAB2.

The base is pretty easy to open, the CAB2 is a bit more problematic with all the keyboard pieces.  The only issue with the base is those vent grills along the side fall out, you have to make sure you get them lined and in place.

I might call Lionel and ask them to make their repair right. I have the paper from when they repaired it and they must have it on file also.

I want to thank everyone who responded. Not going to f--k with it. Let the experts at Lionel make it right. Their turnaround for repairs has been pretty quick.

Yes, meant to type 1.74 just in case my club does buy a base 3 next year after all you beta testers buy it first! Lol! My remote will be updated for that piece.
