Toy trains at Christmas have been an inherent part of many childhoods since they were introduced in the early 1900's. Who doesn't enjoy watching them go around the Christmas tree, a store window, or at a seasonal display.
However, not all children have the opportunity to participate in the hobby due to the finacial restraints of their family.
Just before Christmas of 2013, the members of Kids Run Trains (KRT) participated in a seasonal display in Hampton, Va that attracted a great number of inner-city youth. It was evident from the look on their faces that seeing the trains was a special treat. Many aspiring young engineers exclaimed to their parents that the only Christmas gift they wanted was train or they were postive that the Santa would bring one. The look on the parent's face usually told otherwise. It was the look of resignation knowing that they could not provide this gift to their child. There were even a few children that stayed for hours, just watching the trains go around.
This year KRT would like to provide a special Christmas suprise for 2 young engineers. We would like to present two randomly chosen children with train set for Christmas. We are seeking your assistance in raising the funds to purchase 2 entry level Lionel train sets.
Please help us make a family's Christmas a little easier this year by providing a gift that can be used by the entire family and can create memories that last a lifetime!!
