I found some orange modules for sale online. The seller is claiming they come blank and can be loaded with engine data.
I thought these were only available with engines and weren’t able to be rewritten?

Most likely, they modified them to allow write.
@gunrunnerjohn posted the how to on that here:
The guy is selling you a line. They don't come blank.
I came up with a procedure for converting the blue modules to black modules, see this thread: Free Black Modules for Legacy
I don't know if the orange module has one or two memory chips, so I don't know if it would work the same. The white modules only had one chip and didn't work for this conversion, I'm guessing the orange modules would be the same since a single engine's data doesn't take much space. The blue modules had to have space for the whole code base of the base and remote, so they needed the extra memory capacity.
Definitely a lie unless he’s done the fix to make them rewritable. I did the fix to the white modules, while they only have one chip and won’t hold a software update they will however hold a multi-engine module. I’ve had up to 30 locomotives on one white module.
Good point with the white modules, I was only thinking of programming when I did the conversions. I also had about a dozen blue modules, so it wasn't a key requirement that I get the white modules working. Of course, I kept any orange modules for the engines they came with.
After some time, somebody has either bought them or the seller has seen this thread, because they are no longer available. 😆
The only multiple module listing I found was in the sold category.
If this isn't the ones, they weren't sold or I don't know what to search on. I looked for "orange module" in the Toy & Games section.

Yeah, those were the ones.
OK, I'm guessing he didn't understand how they where used. If you do what he says, it would indeed load the description into the Legacy system, it probably wouldn't match the engine, but it'll load it in!
That is true. Someone else may have informed him afterwards.
