Good afternoon, everyone.

I have a wiring question concerning my original Lionel 65 handcar.

I recently was doing a repair and am in the process of reassembling. It has been a while and I am uncertain of where the 5 wires go. I am mainly concerned with the 3 wires that come out of the heat sink at the back of the unit. There are 3 wires, top, center and bottom. On my unit the top and bottom are silver and the middle is black. Where do these wires go? Any guidance you can provide will be appreciated.

Just some additional thoughts about the handcar.

I was impressed with the motor. I was expecting a cheap can motor before I opened it up. The motor is quite well built and should last forever. I needed to replace a motor brush and was able to find them on ebay. There are two small pieces of plastic sheeting on the sides of the motor. I assume these help insulate it from the frame.

My original issue was the unit would not run. After disassembling the motor, I found that 2 of the 3 brush plates had come loose from the armature. I bought some instant drying glue, applied it to a very small paint brush, coated the top of the plates and pressed them back in place. 30 seconds of pressure on each and they were back in place. The use of the paint brush gave a smooth coverage, without spreading.

Looking forward to any advice you can provide on my wiring trouble.

Regards,

Bill
