Just from memory, the N&W railroad did NOT order any GP20 locomotives. The first order of "high horsepower" units, after all the GP9 units the N&W ordered, were the GP30 units (delivered beginning in late June 1962).
A quick internet search shows the N&W did not ORDER any GP20’s, but they did ROSTER two of them (numbered 2008 and 2009) which were acquired from the Illinois Terminal. The IT acquired them from the Union Pacific. Apparently they were rebuilt (either by PN or MK) at some point prior to N&W’s acquisition. They even made it into Norfolk Southern paint after the merger before being retired in 1991. Nice job by Mr. Muffin bringing these to market!
