Humor me here, if you will? I'd just like to learn, if you have the time.
Does the remote finish the upload fully?
Do you get a message at the end that says to cycle the power on your computer screen?

Yes, absolutely normal in every way. 4.02a is the only software my remote will load and turn on afterward. I have one more possible thing to try. I am going to load Loader 5.0 and DCS Software 6.1 on the 10 year old laptop and attempt to load from that.
Success at last. Apparently my problem is with the Win 10 computer. I think my USB to RS-232 adapter is way out of date. It loads the software into the TIU ok, but has trouble with the remote. The old laptop (Win XP with RS-232 port) install gave an error message at the very end of the TIU installation saying there was a problem with the .NET installation, but after clicking "continue" it did finish up. So now I think I will do a clean install on just the TIU using the Win 10 computer just to make me feel better after I purchase a new USB adapter, but I do now have a working remote, and working TIU which both say they are at 6.10.
Man, I feel much better now...the world is safe for DCS 6.10.
You are to be congratulated on your sticking to it to find a solution, which turned out to be a non-MTH issue,
Great... But does that explain why others have had the same problem with a remote going blank. ?
I'm trying to remember what version of the software I was attempting to upgrade.... 4 . something.
Yes it's a good feeling when the remote comes to life again.
Jim, thanks for the phone call re success... With this stuff sometimes we just need patience and fortitude to try various things... Following up on what Gregg mentioned we probably will never know why other people had the same problem... It never occurred to me that it could be a serial port problem since the TIU upgrade worked...
But now, it seems, that peace and happiness have returned to the Shire! When you get a chance maybe you could connect up the TIU that's at 6.10 and use the upgraded remote to try 6.10... Or maybe not based on your (and our) recent experience...
Thanks for keeping us posted, Jim. Another lesson learned.
Well I’ve been away for quite a while. Nothing like making splash on my return. Lol.
The SABRENT USB to Serial adapter did the trick. Loaded 6.10 into both TIUs and Remotes with no problems at all. Now on the the WIFI module.
