Bought a pair of Lionel ES44AC's at TCA convention in Houston Friday. Engines were new in boxes but had been removed from boxes a couple of times. One engine is missing the little orange W shaped wire pice that goes on the front of the trucks just above the coupler. These are on the front and rear of the engine and very delicate (come off easily). Any idea where I could get one of these pieces? They do not show up on Lionel website parts page for this engine. Thanks for any help!

You have to order the whole swinging pilot to get that one small part.
You could also use another piece of wire, or larva lace which is a flexible rubber tubing to fix it instead of getting a whole new pilot.
Those pilots are $28 a piece and you have to call Lionel to order them. I just recently order the front and rear pair for an ES44AC that was damaged during shipping by UPS.

That is a crap part. Make it out of wire.
i have had the same problem with all of my ES44 from Lionel. I just glue them back on. i have never had any missing
It is hard to get the locomotive out of the box without breaking the part. The best way to get the engine out is to invert the box, let the engine ease out and lift the box off the engine.
